About your local

Meet Lin

I grew up chasing my grandfather through Beijing's old hutongs, listening to his stories about the emperors, the tea houses, and the neighbors who'd lived there for generations.

After studying tourism management at Beijing Union University, I spent three years working with a boutique cultural agency before going independent in 2018. Today I focus on small-group, slow-paced experiences that put neighborhood life at the center.

I've hosted travelers from more than 40 countries and love the moment a guest realizes Beijing isn't only the Great Wall—it's the auntie doing tai chi at 6am, the noodle shop that's been in one family for four generations, and the courtyard where kids still play after school.

My idea of a great day

We start with fresh jianbing in my neighborhood, wander through quiet courtyards and a small temple, then choose lunch together at a family restaurant. The afternoon is yours: contemporary art, imperial history, tea, or simply helping you get comfortable with the city.

  1. Breakfast in the hutong

Hot jianbing at my regular stall, then a slow walk through waking lanes.

  2. Courtyards, a temple, and small talk

Quiet courtyards and a neighborhood temple, with the story of how hutong life still works.

  3. Lunch and your afternoon

A family restaurant for lunch, then the afternoon shaped around what you feel like.

Nothing is fixed—we shape the day around you.

We got completely off the tourist track. The hutong breakfast alone was worth the whole day.
